New Website Using WordPress
Well, what a busy week it’s been here at TwoHouses.
We decided our website needed a bit of a spruce up, since we’ve not shown it any love for quite some time due to spending all of our attention on projects for clients. Sukhi decided he’d like to be able to make forms, blogs, posts, upload images to the site etc, so we decided to go ahead and use WordPress for a change. We’ve always built our websites from scratch; the last one was Angular 4, the one before that Zurb Foundation, but we decided since we’d used WordPress a few times recently for our clients, we’d run with it ourselves. I’m usually a bit of a skeptic with Out of the Box tools, as it can be a challenge bending them to your will when they don’t behave exactly as you want them to. Our projects are often extremely specific and bespoke, and require a made-for-purpose application to be developed, but this isn’t the case here! Time was key; I had to get back to “real” work and no way was I going to build something with similar capabilities that WordPress offers in a literal matter of clicks.
So far WordPress has in fact exceeded my expectations. It’s super easy to use, and the sheer range of plug-ins and themes is very impressive. It’s well documented, has a huge user and community base, and seems to in fact be very extendable… if you know what you’re doing, anyway.
I hope you like the look and feel of the new site. I keep finding little niggly bits here and there as we’re not experts yet, so let us know if something sticks out!
